Have we become a social media-centered society?
In this post:
A very short post and several questions about modern society, the choices that we made to use the tools that we have at our disposal or become the servants of the tools we need to function in the 21st century.
I have a question for you: Has this media-centric or rather, social media-centric society of the 21st century made us passive, scrolling, self-involved robots?
Sometimes it seems to me that we are indeed in the Matrix. However, unlike in the movies, we have plenty of choices about our destiny. Do we have to choose between remaining mindlessly plugged to our devices or risking losing the comfort of our automatic responses by unplugging ourselves? I believe that being plugged in a zombie-like state is not a destiny, not an unavoidable fate; it is in most cases a choice and we have plenty of alternatives in between the extremes.
